The St Louis Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects
is offering two $1,000 Scholarships. These scholarships are announced in early August and are awarded for the fall semester. It is open to St. Louis ASLA Chapter area students studying towards a Landscape Architectural degree from an accredited school. Awards will be made by the Saint Louis Chapter ASLA Scholarship Committee based on qualification, merit and recommendation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
-Be a resident of the Saint Louis Chapter region
-Be a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th year, or graduate student.
-Be attending an accredited landscape architecture program in the United States.
REQUIREMENTS:
-Complete the Application Form and mail it to the committee. (Must be postmarked by June 1)
-Submit a one page letter of recommendation from a faculty member or professional reference.
-Submit a one paragraph letter explaining why you deserve this scholarship.
This scholarship fund exists to promote the profession and it�s future through the support of Landscape Architecture students.
More Info on the Jerry Loomis Scholorship Fund
The Jerry Loomis Memorial Scholarships program began in 1994 and was named in honor of Jerry J. Loomis, FASLA, and founder of Loomis Associates. Each year the St. Louis chapter awards two $1000 scholarships. Last year�s scholarship recipients were Jay LeChien from the University of Illinois and Ethan Primm from Kansas State University. Congratulations to you and all other past recipients!
Scholarship applications are sent out to each university in March/April. This years applications are due on June 1, 2007. Applicants must be students currently enrolled in Landscape Architecture programs at an accredited university, and they must be residents of the St. Louis Chapter region. The ASLA scholarship committee, consisting of the Scholarship Chairperson, current ASLA President, and Treasurer, will review all applications and vote on the recipients in July. Scholarships are then awarded in August at the beginning of the following school year.
