ASLA gears up for SPOKE, an architectural bike tour of downtown St. Louis
As part of STL Design Week 2012, the St. Louis chapters of the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Landscape Architects have teamed up to bring you SPOKE, a docent-led architectural bike tour through downtown St. Louis. The free 8-mile ride will highlight some of the landmarks our city has to offer and will benefit the non-profit cycling program B-Works.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 30, with tours embarking from B-Works at 2414 Menard St. in Soulard every 20 minutes from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. Food trucks will be on hand, and beverages will be provided. Riders will need to have a bike, a helmet and sign a release in order to participate. We look forward to seeing you there!

ASLA Members Support The Trestle at Great Rivers Greenway Event
ASLA membership came out on a beautiful June evening in St. Louis' 5th Ward to support Great Rivers Greenway's efforts to trasform an abondoned, above-ground railway trestle into a thriving city park.
St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay and GRG Executive Director Susan Trautman spoke about the power of the public park - both citing the dedication and commitment it takes to make a unique outdoor space like this happen. They also spoke to the revitalization of North St. Louis and how integral this project is to that effort.
The project would be the third of its kind in the world, following New York's "High Line" and La Promenade Plantée in Paris.
ASLA members and other supportive St. Louisans got the opportunity to go up onto the railway and imagine what a unique and iconic outdoor space it could be! A great event for a great cause. We support you, GRG!
